Sonor Signature 590 14×8 bellbronze.
The restoration of this snare was a hell of a job. The condition of the snare was really bad and to get the thin copperplated hardware in a renewed good condition took a lot of work.
The shell also had bad pitting and it needed courage to start sanding it. First disassemble the snare totally. Test and use paint remover to remove all the varnish. Clean the parts with vinegar and water, so no paint remover stays behind. Polish, polish and……..polish with a very fine polishing paste. Sand the shell on a turning table, with the same grain as used at the factory. I didn’t varnished the snare, because that looks better. If you clean from time to time the discoloring of the copper won’t be a problem. Assemble the snare and…………ready.
